About the 2021 Community Wealth Building Forum
On March 25, 2021, AWBI hosted the first annual virtual Community Wealth Building Forum with the goal of creating actionable conversations on how effective community wealth building can reshape Black communities. The forum elevated national and local best practices and emerging trends. The Forum not only highlighted important conversations on the impact of economic policy and regulatory frameworks on the racial wealth divide, but also laid out concrete examples of the ways that community wealth building is being implemented across the country.

To build on the conversations initiated at the Forum, AWBI will host a virtual speaker series. The Community Wealth Building Commitment Series: Closing the Racial Wealth Gap for Shared Prosperity will highlight organizations and initiatives currently implementing community wealth building strategies including the support of Black enterprise development, access to capital and equitable finance, anchor procurement and market access, workforce and land use/real estate. The series will highlight local and national best practices in community wealth building.
