ATLANTA SMALL BUSINESS SURVEY

The Atlanta Wealth Building Initiative (AWBI) has launched its “Atlanta Small Business Survey” to understand the evolving needs of the business community and disparities in small business needs and resources.

Small businesses are critical to community well-being. They create jobs, income and generational wealth that contribute to a prosperous economy. In an effort to drive additional resources and advocate for systems and policy level changes that support Atlanta’s small business community, the Atlanta Wealth Building Initiative (AWBI) is working with data firm Community Science and community partners including Access to Capital for Entrepreneurs (ACE), Invest Atlanta, Start:ME, Goodie Nation, Russell Innovation Center for Entrepreneurs (RICE), Village Market, and Village MicroFund are conducting a landscape analysis of Atlanta businesses to more deeply understand the characteristics, strengths, needs and disparities of local businesses.

The survey will build on findings from AWBI’s 2017 Prosperity Now Report and investigate the current status of Atlanta’s business community given the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic, the opportunities and barriers small businesses face as it relates to access to capital and technical assistance, and the outlook for 2021 and beyond. The survey will:

  • identify shared needs across the small business community

  • facilitate the availability of national funding and additional resources for Black-owned businesses and

  • advocate for systems and policy level changes to combat persistent income inequality.

The survey is available in Spanish and takes 10-15 minutes to complete. Participants will be entered to win $500 for completing the survey. Responses are confidential.
