AWBI joins ATL Action for Racial Equity

In a city that is 52% Black, the average value for Black-owned businesses is $58,085 compared to $658,264 for White-owned businesses. Closing this gap requires collective effort across sectors. Atlanta Wealth Building Initiative is proud to join ATL Action for Racial Equity with the Metro Atlanta Chamber and 150+ metro Atlanta companies. This critical, multi-year effort addresses the pervasive effects of systemic racism in the community and workplace. No one leader or organization can solve the problems that stem from systemic racism alone. We each have a role to play — in our homes, in our workplaces and in our community.

Atlanta Wealth Building Initiative Executive Director, Latresa McLawhorn Ryan, joined Lori Billingsley, Global Chief Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Officer at The Coca-Cola Company, Steve Koonin, CEO of Atlanta Hawks & State Farm Arena, and MAC CEO Katie Kirkpatrick on a panel for the Metro Atlanta Chamber’s launch of ATL Action for Racial Equity on February 9, 2021. A recording of the launch event can be found below.
